Greeting’s to all!
When my dear Wanda first invited me , to contribute to the dirt column, my first instinct was to vent my spleen over the now spectacular smashup of the Russian River Eagle, which no longer exists to raise consciousness, and funds for worthy causes. It is now just a shell of it’s former Glory with a disconnected telephone #, and a hole in the roof. I will not resort to name calling, for it was not my business to ruin. Arrogance, and cluelessness combined to create a very empty existence for those of us that tried to hold out as a group. Nobody want’s a dream to die, and we went through the motions together with pinched smiles, and waning energy, as the Eagle’s wings were clipped. My last day was May 22nd, my birthday , which was forgotten by my (superiors}. It’s not that I need a Birthday, it’s that the powers that be could not seem to offer a kindness to anyone, at any time, for any reason. It became a harsh workplace of deception, and untruths. It is sad to see it in this state, but the universe works in interesting way’s, as Mr. Bridges pointed out to me, and he is right! On the day that I Left the Eagle, I had houseguests arrive from Florida to spend their Memorial Day weekend with Lee, and I. It was through their eyes that I was able to recognize all the beauty, and bounty that we have here, and I was led to reflect on the how lucky we all are.
There are some things that we may take for granted from time to time, so I just thought I would throw some of the images out there that make me happy, and give me a little smile.
. Summer is here, and the Heavy-Duty Drama doldrums are over, and I am going towards the light. These are some of the things that make me happy…
Wanda with balloons in her hair, Carmen, the way club Fab throws a party, Swedish pancakes, and the daffodils of spring along the roads, the Roses of summer at the RRR. Kayaking on the river, Country Dan Karaoke, Dr. Dan’s voice, My Lee, Leigh’s t shirt collection, Ginny in pearls, A Mama gathering, riding with the top down, The vineyards always changing color around the Korbel bend, Roger’s energy, mouse, L.J’s corned beef, Gus in the morning’s at the RRR, where there is always a donut, and current newspaper, The Safeway staff, homemade Ice cream from local berries, my friend Tom, Lark drugstore, River Wolf, Leslie’s big smile, Dick’s Black pug dog, Jake’s red house, Dinner and a movie on Wednesday with T.J, and Dragqueens.
I am going to be grateful, and happy for all the good things, and just let the negative stuff be. Who needs it? When will we rule the world indeed? Love and Peace to all this summer. Brian
